If Ipswich Town win 3-0 at Ashton Gate then lose successive home games conceding six goals in the process, how bad does that make Bristol City? With a Nicky Maynard consolation at Cardiff City the only response to six shipped at the other end, it has been a far from inspiring start to 2011/12 for Keith Millen’s side.
It’s a home banker then, right? Well, perhaps.
Bristol City seem to be repeating their calamitous start to last season in which they won just one of 11 matches, losing seven of them. The Robin’s haven’t lost their opening three matches in a league campaign since 1985, but this is now a distinct possibility.
Despite Leicester losing their opening home game, the King Power Stadium remains an intimidating place to visit. The Foxes have won 13 league matches here and lost no more than four in each of the last three seasons. The Robin’s 3-1 league win here in 2009 was their first in Leicester since 1915.
But with an injured right-back Leicester’s only league goalscorer of the season so far, the task for Sven’s men against a defence as porous as Bristol City’s remains finding the net. The recall of Andy King and Paul Gallagher to the starting lineup seems a distinct possibility, the latter having played just 28 minutes of Championship football so far this season. Between them, King and Gallagher were responsible for nearly a third of Leicester’s league goals in 2010/11 (25 of 76).
A home win would settle a couple of nervous jitters amongst the home contingent. Leicester have lost consecutive league matches on two occasions under Sven, but now is really not the time to make it a hat-trick.
