He is the director who rules in commercial in Tamil and the other is the superstar of Tamil Nadu. And both are coming together for ‘Raana’. The film started rolling today without much pomp and show considering the multitude of huge names it is associated with. Director Ravikumar and Rajinikanth have got together a couple of times before and the result was blockbusters that sent the Tamil crowd into a frenzy.

The Rajini-Ravikumar pair came together for ‘Muthu’ for the first time and then again for ‘Padayappa.’ Both films rocked the box office. Both films had the director sharing the screen space with the superstar at least for a few minutes. We the fans of both the superstar and the director hope we get to see some onscreen time of the two together again.

Ravikumar’s films apart from a strong story backing also have a liberal amount of comedy in all his films. We are yet to know who would be roped in for the comedy this time around. We will let you know as and when we receive confirmed news on this. ‘Raana’ will have Deepika Padukone supplying the oomph factor. She hit the news stands for her sleek dance moves in ‘Dhum Maaro Dhum’.

It looks like Prabhu Deva is quick as a wink in completing the project. The team has recently wrapped up an item song with Sophie Choudary and Vishal in the set that was erected in Binny Mills. Prabhu Deva planned of canning this particular song in Europe but due to some visa hassles they have shot in Chennai itself without wasting any time. Salman & Katrina again a pair

The excitement has set in when this news spread in the circles… The ex-lovebirds will soon be back together – ah ha but for professional commitment of course!

Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif will share the screen for ‘New York’ famed helmer Kabir Khan’s next venture. Some time back the speculations were rife that these two are being considered for the project, Sallu bhai had some reservations then about the casting. However things said to have been smoothened and the ground work is going to start.

On the other hand some sources claim that there is no animosity between Salman and Kat and they are still very good friends.

Incidentally, it is said that initially talks were going about Deepika Padukone and Priyanka Chopra being considered for the female lead. However Katrina seemed to be better suited for the role. Besides, having worked with Kabir Khan, she is Kabir's favourite and also they share a very good equation.

Hmmmm, looks like finally the wait is over to see Kat and Salman together. While they looked adorable in the special track of ‘Tees Maar Khan’, it will be wonderful to see their chemistry in Kabir’s movie…

Ramu chooses to keep mum on Big B

The word has spread like wildfire that Abhishek Bachchan won't be doing 'Department'. Though no one really knows what transpired and whether it was Abhishek's or Ram Gopal Varma's call to part ways for this film, the official reason being stated is 'dates problem'. However this is not where the story ends. The twist in the tale is that post Abhishek's exit, there is huge uncertainty around Amitabh Bachchan's presence in the film as well.

"When 'Department' was announced, both Amitabh as well as Abhishek were confirmed for the film," says an industry source, "At that time Ramu was quite excited about bringing the two together since the film was totally different from what he had done with the father-son jodi in 'Sarkar' and 'Sarkar Raj'. Even till a fortnight back there was no change in plans for the film's cast before this sudden announcement came around Rana replacing Abhishek."

"Naturally, there are questions now on whether Amitabh would want to be a part of the film where his son has been replaced. He is a professional but since no one knows if there was a conspiracy theory behind Abhishek's exit, there are already murmurs in the industry circle," he continues.

Ramu though is nonchalant around the whole episode and while he denies any conspiracy theory here, he plays his cards carefully when it comes to confirming on Amitabh's presence or the lack of it in 'Department'.

"As of now all I can say is that decision is still pending on who would play the part that you mention," Ramu says in a thoughtful manner, "This particular role is still at the writing stage and not completely developed in the script."

He goes on to confirm that other than Rana, only two people who have been cast so far are Sanjay Dutt and Kangna. "Any other name that you may hear would be plain speculation. Whether Mr. Bachchan or someone else joins the cast would be announced in due course of time," he says.

Here is looking at more twists in the tale Ramu.

This hijack action drama with no songs and duets where Nagarjuna plays a NSG Commando did good business at box office.

Ala Modalayindi nominated for national awards

‘Ala Modalayindi’ with Nani and Nitya Menon in the lead directed by Nandini Reddy and produced by KL Damodar Prasad on the banner of Sri Ranjit Movies proved to be a genuine hit at Box Office, despite no big artistes, novice director and not so famous banner.

The movie is running towards 100 days and is earning good profits. The buzz from the Film Nagar is that the movie was nominated for the National Awards for the year 2010 and was also shortlisted in the final list of movies.

Ram Charan surprises Tamil journos

Ram Charan, whose film ‘Magadheera’ created and rewrote several records of the Telugu film industry, is making his debut in Tamil with the dubbed version of the film as ‘Maaveeran’.

The audio launch of the film was held a few days ago. Directed by SS Rajamouli, the original was produced by Allu Aravind, while the dubbed version is being brought out by Geeta Arts itself in association with Red Giant Films.

During the audio launch of the film, Ram Charan spoke to the media in a chaste Tamil language very fluently. This has come in as a surprise for the Tamil media. Of course, Rajamouli spent a good amount of time in his life in Madras and hence he could speak fluently in Tamil.

Likewise, Allu Aravind, who had lived in Madras along with his father Allu Ramalingaiah, was also able to speak in Tamil.

However, Ram Charan, who had very less stint in Madras, spoke fluent Tamil and impressed the Tamil audiences and media.

Access Card Security For Rana Sets

Superstar Rajinikanth’s next Tamil flick, under KS Ravikumar’s direction, ‘Rana’s huge sets at AVM Studios have been erected. Sources say that, the shooting will begin on Worker’s Day that is on May 1. A few important scenes and a dance sequence of Superstar with lead lady Deepika Padukone will be shot on May 1.

Deepika sports a whole-new-look in this movie with perfect South Indian makeup and wear. While Ileana plays the love of one of the characters played by Rajini, Tabu will be paired with the Senior Rana in the movie. Sonu Sood of Arundathi fame will play the antagonist in this film. A. R. Rahman is composing the tunes for this period movie and looks like he has already composed a few tunes!

However, the highlight is that the director would like to retain and build upon the surprise element of the movie and so he has issued access cards to the cast and crew of ‘Rana’ who alone can gain entry in the sets, that is to say the eighth floor in AVM Studios.

This is probably the first time in Kollywood, or Indian Film industry where access cards have been issued to gain entry into sets!

Aathma India’s First Stereo Scopic 3D Flick

‘Aathma’ is India’s first new wave 3D stereo scopic movie and will be hitting big screens this May! The movie will be simultaneously releasing in Tamil, Hindi and Telugu. Prior to this, these technologies were used in James Cameron’s ‘Avatar’ – a movie that made waves internationally.

Ace director Vikram Bhatt is directing ‘Aathma,’ a 3D horror flick. Vikram Bhatt already has three horror Bollywood flicks to his credit, ‘Raaz,’ ‘1920’ and ‘Shaapit.’ All these movies have acted as trendsetters for horror films in the industry!

Needless to say, a combination of horror and 3D will be a perfect entertainer this summer. Speaking to the media, Vikram Bhatt expressed, “Horror by itself is scary, and ‘Aathma’ will definitely be a nerve-chilling experience.”

The hero, Rehan, visits Dalhouse, the Glen Manor that his father had initiated for sale and has come to a standstill. Rehan unearths the mysteries and miseries of the past and present in the Glen Manor, and wants to free the house of the spirit that taking hold of the house. While doing so, Rehan comes across Meera’s picture and wonders how anyone can ever fall in love with a picture? But he does fall in love with it and this turns out to be only a bigger challenge for him, for the picture and Meera are the reasons of why the house is haunted!

Looks like there’s a lot to look forward to from ‘Aathma,’ in terms of the script and the technology never seen by Indian audiences!

Pakistan vs West Indies Preview and Live Score

Pakistan vs West Indies Preview and Live Score

April 28 is Heroes Day in Barbados. A national holiday to celebrate people the country is proud of. Like Grantley Adams and Garry Sobers. The West Indies cricket team is in desperate need of a hero - Bajan or otherwise - as they bid to keep the series alive at the Kensington Oval. Unfortunately the cricketers likeliest to produce heroic feats are injured, dropped or plying their trade in India. Darren Sammy's team trails 0-2, and unless they improve dramatically on two inept performances, Pakistan will secure the series with two games to spare.

West Indies have bowling problems. They took only five Pakistan wickets in 89.3 overs in the first two ODIs. Devendra Bishoo accounted for four, while the other was a run-out. Kemar Roach is a threat with the new ball but Pakistan's batsmen have simply played out his testing deliveries, while scoring off the gentle medium-pace at the other end. Jerome Taylor, who would have been an able new-ball partner for Roach, is playing in the IPL instead.

Pakistan have also had the luxury of being able to chase at their own pace, because West Indies' batsmen have been clueless against spin. It was this that decided the first two one-dayers extremely early in the contest. No one has been able to read the variations of Saeed Ajmal, Shahid Afridi and Mohammad Hafeez. At one extreme, Darren Bravo played a shot too many in the second ODI, and at the other Marlon Samuels couldn't play one if he wanted to.

The formula for Pakistan, on a turning St Lucia pitch, was simple. Let West Indies bat first, use spinners to stifle the scoring and pick up wickets without needing to produce anything spectacular, after which their batsmen chase at leisure. The outcome has been rather unattractive to watch - two dreary, uncompetitive matches - but that is no fault of Pakistan's. They too arrived in the Caribbean with several young players, and they've managed to cope far better than the hosts have.

West Indies LLLLL
Pakistan WWLWW
