Manchester United have several absentees in defence. Captain Nemanja Vidic has been confirmed out for up to five weeks with a calf muscle problem. Rio Ferdinand's hamstring problem is not as bad as first feared but rules him out of this fixture, while Rafael will miss 10 weeks after an operation on his shoulder.
